Brantwyn Estate Wedding | Jennifer & Randy

Whoever said rain on your wedding day is good luck…wasn’t lying. Jennifer & Randy’s Brantwyn Estate Wedding was easily one of our favorite weddings of the year. First of all, the DuPont Wedding Collection venues are absolutely pristine (and quite reminiscent of Downton Abbey). The staff is always exceptional and treats you like royalty. However, what truly made this wedding special was: Jennifer & Randy. They were wildly head over heels for each other…and I know that sounds cliché, but the proof is in the memory cards (as the photographer saying goes) and literally every part of the day is full of blissful images of Jennifer & Randy looking so incredibly happy.

There was a crucial point of the wedding day where Jennifer & Randy had to decide whether their Brantwyn Estate Wedding ceremony would take place indoors or outdoors. The storm lightning alarm at the nearby DuPont Country Club was not very encouraging, but Jennifer & Randy decided to go all-in and chase their dream of having an outdoor garden wedding ceremony. It paid off – big time! We witnessed one of the most surreally beautiful ceremonies as the storm loomed in the background. We had time for a few quick bride and groom portraits before the rain came pouring down. What was remarkable about this wedding was that Jennifer & Randy did not let the weather phase them one bit, in fact it actually added to the excitement of the day; a true testament to how these two are able to make the best out of any situation. For the closing image below, Lincoln and I really wanted to create a unique portrait to showcase the rainy good luck, and Jennifer & Randy were brave enough to let us try it!

Welkinweir Estate Wedding in Pottstown | Sarita & Brian

The Welkinweir Estate wedding venue is one of our favorite places to photograph. It is a whimsical and earthy dreamscape with endless winding trails that lead to all sorts of secretly intimate spots. The venue is in Pottstown and only 10 minutes from us, which is certainly a bonus :) The ceremony location is actually an old barn ruins, where the existing stone structure has been transformed into a walled garden unlike anything we’ve ever seen. Believe it or not, Sarita and Brian live in Hawaii so this was somewhat of a destination wedding for them! Their family-filled reception was full of guests traveling from as far as India, and I’d say it was well worth the trip! We love how they brought a touch of Hawaii with them via their favors, which included magnets and sand from their favorite beaches. Mahalo!

Farm Engagement Session in Fall near Philadelphia | Sarah & Ryan

When a client tells us they want to have their fall engagement session at the groom’s family farm in West Chester – we happily oblige! Sounds like the perfect location for a fall photo shoot :) Sarah and Ryan are such a cute couple and we had an amazing time exploring the hayfields and stable playing with their favorite horse and even getting into a leaf fight!

Montrose Mansion Wedding in Villanova | Kerri & Bill

Kerri is our favorite type of bride because she trusted us completely and gave us unrestricted freedom to unleash our creativity (in fact, her actual wording in our pre-wedding form was: “we are up for any and all creative shots you may want to take – YOU ARE THE BOSSES!”). We had such an unbelievably fun time at this Montrose Mansion wedding that we’ve been gushing about it to everyone we know. Kerri and Bill, despite going to Lincoln’s rival high school Germantown Academy, are simply some of the coolest people we’ve met. After making things official at Villanova’s St Thomas Chapel, we toured Philly with their wild bridal party and an old school boom box blasting. Walking around the city with a bridal party is always the best feeling because everyone you see is cheering and congratulating you as if you were a celebrity; I love it! We explored the Art Museum stairs and the Rodin Museum before making our way back to the Montrose Mansion wedding venue in Villanova for an exquisite cocktail hour and reception. The speeches were touching, and the dance floor was absolutely crazy. Finally, Kerri and Bill went above and beyond and picked out a special gift for us: a ‘Summer Love’ 6-pack and cute glasses with Philly pretzels on them! How cool is that?? We’ll never forget this day!

Side Note: This day also represented a major first for Lincoln, because as he dove (read: crouched) to the ground, his all-too-slim-fit pants split wide open as Kerri and Bill made their grand exit from the Villanova Chapel. Somehow, no one really seemed to notice and we were able to grab an extra pair. We have triple backups for all of our camera equipment, and now Lincoln will have to bring backup pants to each wedding haha. Barn on Bridge Wedding by Robert Ryan | Alli & Ryan

Alli & Ryan’s personalities are so warm, loving, and gracious that you simply want to be around them all day. Alli was so thoughtful with all of the sweet little details she designed. For something old, she tied a locket with pictures of her Nana and Pop-Pop around her bouquet. For something blue, she had a small heart shaped piece of her dad’s old blue handkerchief sewn into the inside of her dress, over her heart. It’s weddings like these that leave us grinning from ear to ear, which is probably precisely what Alli & Ryan are doing right now on their honeymoon to St. Lucia. Color me jealous.

By the way, we love first looks. They’re really a win/win for everyone at the wedding. The bride and groom get to share an intimate, unforgettable moment, and it allows for a more relaxed time to capture portraits before guests arrive. This rustic bridge across the street from the venue was the perfect spot for the big reveal, and Ryan’s reaction was priceless! Lincoln almost fell in the river getting the shot, but that was a chance I was willing to take ;)

Side note: It’s always a treat to photograph any of the Robert Ryan wedding venues. This marks our third time this season working with Robert Ryan’s magnificently effective wedding coordinator: Barbara. She’s a prime example of how choosing the right coordinator can avoid all wedding day stress. Brides should be rejoicing on their wedding day, not hung up on orchestrating details!
