Welkinweir Wedding by Robert Ryan | Sarah & Andy

It’s no secret that we love any wedding venue designed by Robert Ryan, so Lincoln and I were super excited to check out the Welkinweir wedding venue. Tucked deep in the woods of Chester County, this mystical arboretum/mansion is in the heart of a 197 acre conservation preserve. It also happens to be 15 minutes from our house, which is always a bonus! We showed up early to location scout, and as the trails felt like a fairytale as we wound deeper and deeper into the woods. We turned around before we got eaten by the big bad wolf! Now on to Sarah & Andy – where do we start? They had planned about a dozen different surprises for their parents and guests, and everybody loved it! Instead of a first dance, they sang a top secret piano duet dedicated to their parents. Incredible! Sarah and her girls performed the ‘Go Ninja Go Ninja Go’ dance from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, which was pulled off flawlessly. The dining included many family recipes from their childhoods, which really brought back the memories. The list goes on, and it took a lot of effort for us to keep the surprises quiet! We polished off the night with some delicious carrot cake from The Master’s Baker. Also, we certainly owe a thank you to one of Robert Ryan’s event managers: Barbara for ensuring absolute perfection across the entire day! The was our first time at the venue, but we’ll be back soon enough for Brian & Sarita’s Welkinweir wedding this October :)
