A very unique wedding venue
After Lincoln and I got married, we moved to the beautiful little town of Elverson, PA to start our new lives together. At the time, we had no idea that there was an absolutely beautiful wedding venue literally down the road from our house. Needless to say, we have been wedding photographers at French Creek Golf Club many times, and it’s honestly one of the best wedding venues we’ve seen.
Paige & Matthew chose the middle of October for their wedding date, which is such a stunning time for this amazingly beautiful venue. The fall foliage had just begun turning on the rolling hills across French Creek Golf Club, which is a dream come true for wedding photography. The entire day was full of special moments. The entire bridal party and family treated us like lifelong friends, and moved elegantly from one location to the next. The French Creek staff did an outstanding job from the very start, bringing tray after tray of drinks and hors d’oeuvres to keep the wedding party happy and energetic for the beautiful day.
Once you get past Labor Day weekend, the peak season really begins, because the weather is cooler and family and friends are back from summer vacations. Off-peak season is generally April, July, and November. The cost of a wedding in these months can be much less, even at the best wedding venues. That money can either be saved or shifted to other parts of your wedding day. French Creek Golf Club weddings will look gorgeous no matter what season you choose, because the venue is an active country club with so many options.
Guests will love your wedding day
The outdoor wedding ceremony location lines up to a gigantic tree that rests over the lake. It must be hundreds of years old and is the perfect backdrop for the wedding day. Trust me, all of your guests will be taking endless photos in front of it. Following the wedding ceremony, guests enjoy cocktail hour either on the back stone patio of French Creek Golf Club wedding, which overlooks the grounds, or inside the vintage restored barn
The wedding reception
There are two locations for the wedding reception. The 3,000-square-foot ballroom is what most couples choose, as its large size is a great option for big weddings. The restored vintage barn is perfect for smaller, more intimate affairs, or for other parts of the day such as getting ready or cocktail hour. It’s honestly very nice for the wedding venue to have so many large indoor spaces, because if luck brings you a rainy day, you’re still able to fit very large groups together in French Creek’s many oversized spaces. For example, the wedding ceremony in the vintage barn, followed by cocktail hour in the terrace room, and the wedding reception in the ballroom as originally planned. The wedding venue staff also made a virtual tour video to guide with the entire planning process. This is a great way to visualize your French Creek Golf Club wedding initially, and will help you remember the stunning venue as you iron out the details later.
What really impresses us about the French Creek Golf Club’s staff is that they’ve consistently invested in upgrades to the property. It seems like every time we go back to photograph a wedding, a new room has been recently renovated. And these are not your typical country club renovations! They are preserving the craftsmanship and heritage of the Amish and Mennonite artistry. For example, instead of generic flooring, they added hand laid bricks to the indoor and outdoor flooring of French Creek Golf Club. That may not sound super exciting, but trust me, when you see the difference it is incredible.
