Alex & Steve told us that they didn’t want just a regular wedding. They wanted a time where friends and family could come together and just enjoy time celebrating the joys of life, without the usual headaches of a wedding day. As wedding photographers, we’ve seen a lot of drama, so this was certainly a relief! Since many of their guests were from the Philadelphia area, they initially looked at the center city locations to get married, but the hustle and bustle of the city adds a lot of stress for your wedding party and all your loved ones. The Ballroom at Ellis Preserve in Newtown Square, PA, was the perfect venue. Conveniently located 30 minutes from Philadelphia, the beautiful venue has all of the luxurious amenities of a traditional city wedding, but with very easy accessibility. Finley Catering is seriously famous in the socialite, wedding, and event circles of the upper class, and took over this historic wedding venue very recently. The way Finley Catering plans adds a totally new dimension to the pastoral green setting surrounding Ellis Preserve, Newtown Square. The original founder, Charles Ellis, who built the grounds in 1932, would be proud of how Finley preserved the authenticity of the venue, while adding modern elements that brides and grooms expect. It all blends together so perfectly for wedding photos.

One of the most beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony locations we’ve seen

The Ballroom at Ellis Preserve has much more square footage than any center city wedding you will find. This also gives couples and wedding planners a lot of flexibility in case rain, cold, or wind decide to make a surprise entrance during your outdoor ceremony. While every bride dreams of saying their vows in front of the grand greek revival style columns, at least you have an excellent backup plan inside! As wedding photographers, we’ve seen many groups panic in the minutes leading up to wedding ceremonies, as they stare at the incoming weather forecast. Better safe than sorry! The same can be said for cocktail hour: while the vast stone landing atop the grand staircase would be ideal, the indoor location is equally impressive for both your guests and photos.

The Ballroom at Ellis Preserve is a beautiful and historic venue located in Newtown Square, Delaware County. The venue was built in 1932 in the Greek revival style and features towering columns, idyllic grounds, and easy access to Philadelphia, PA. The ballroom can seat up to 250 guests. There is also an outdoor patio that can fit up to 150 guests (it’s connected to the beautiful indoor space if you need to fit more than 150 people). The venue also has a bridal suite, a groom’s suite, and a state-of-the-art kitchen. Finley Catering is known for their culinary expertise and top-notch service. The ballroom inside is also elegant, with high coffered ceilings, light neutral colors, and well-appointed lighting. The venue can accommodate up to 250 guests and is wheelchair accessible. The service at the Ballroom at Ellis Preserve is second to none. The venue is located in a quiet, secluded area, yet it is still easily accessible from Philadelphia. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, with plenty of space for guests to wander around and take photos. The ballroom is large and airy, with plenty of natural light.
