3,500 acres of pure beauty for your wedding
The end of November is a magical time for a wedding. Nestled within Valley Forge national park is a historic estate with period furniture and enough natural beauty to provide limitless photo opportunities. The beautifully manicured lawn and surrounding property are the perfect backdrop for a wedding day.
Guests arrive to valet parking at the grand entrance to the Philander Chase Knox estate. The historic elegance of the slate patio, living and dining rooms lead guests to the rustic charm of the outdoor wedding ceremony, surrounded by rolling green meadows. As wedding photographers, we have overheard so many compliments about how fun the Robert Ryan Catering team made the event.
Ashley & Justin planned all the details themselves, and the amazing team at Robert Ryan catering ensured the entire wedding party had the best day of their life! As they were exchanging vows, their perfect puppy sat patiently in his own tuxedo. So cute! The main event in the wedding reception tent always had a packed dance floor, with every detail perfectly orchestrated at this perfect venue. Food, drinks, and plenty of wedding cake can do amazing things! All the hustle leading up to a wedding day can be stressful, but the bride and groom’s vision was absolutely flawless and drew such great compliments from each guest. It’s hard not to dream with such a spectacular view of the Valley Forge National Historical park.
The Philander Chase Knox Estate: a wedding venue with history
A hidden gem within the Valley Forge National Historic Park, the Philander Chase Knox Estate is a romantic wedding venue with a rich history. The estate was originally built in the late 1700s and was once home to the legendary Philander Chase Knox, who previously was an Attorney General, Secretary of State, and even a Senator. The grounds that surround the home were used as an encampment by General George Washington and his army from 1777 to 1778.
Today, the estate is available to host wedding ceremonies, receptions, and vow renewal celebrations. Robert Ryan Catering partnered with the national park service to create multiple event spaces that are absolutely gorgeous. It’s quite surreal to think General George Washington’s army spent much time in this picturesque setting! Couples start their day in a private get-ready suite with their bridal party. The private bridal suite upstairs will do wonders for your timeline (no need to plan travel!). The ceremony is often held on the landscaped lawn, which has beautiful views of Valley Creek. Cocktail hour can be held on the patio, the living rooms, or both! Wedding receptions are held outside in a large state-of-the-art tent, which is carpeted and features farm tables made from reclaimed wood. The tent can comfortably accommodate up to a 200 guest count for a truly unforgettable wedding. The team at Valley Forge Park Events always impresses us with an elegant event overlooking the charming valley creek. The estate’s wedding planning process takes all the stress out of planning. We can also provide a list of wedding vendors we recommend and support you in your planning, or help you find a wedding planner with a specific background.
